Letoon Ancient City: Religious Center of Lycian Civilization

Letoon Ancient City: Religious Center of Lycian Civilization
Letoon Ancient City, located about 50 kilometers southeast of Fethiye, is one of the most important religious centers of the Lycian Civilization. This ancient city, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, fascinates its visitors with its magnificent temples and historical ruins. Letoon is not only a religious center, but also an important part of Lycian culture and art.
Letoon takes its name from Leto in Greek mythology. When Leto became pregnant by Zeus, she had to flee the wrath of Hera and eventually took refuge in Letoon. Here she gave birth to Artemis and Apollo. For this reason, Letoon is home to the temples of Artemis and Apollo, as well as a temple dedicated to their mother Leto.

The most remarkable structures in Letoon are three large temples:
1. Temple of Leto

2. Temple of Apollo

3. Temple of Artemis
